Three-wheeled and four-wheeled motorbikes will now be subject to MOT test. More specifically, the Directorate of Transport and Communications of the Regional Unit of Lasithi announced:
We invite for an initial MOT test, vehicles of categories L4e, L5e and L7e with an engine capacity of more than 125 cc, with an address indicated on the registration document (field C.1.3 of the certificate) from areas belonging to the Lassithi region according to the following:
- The MOT test of vehicles of the above mentioned categories that have a date of first license in Greece as new until 30-11-2019, must be carried out by 31-12-2023.
- The MOT test of vehicles of the above mentioned categories that have a date of first license as new from 01-12-2019 will be carried out from three (3) weeks before and up to one (1) week after the date of completion of the four-year period.
- The MOT test for motorcycles (motorcycles and mopeds) of categories L4e, L5e and L7e with an engine capacity over 125cc, for which a registration certificate has been issued due to transfer of ownership until the issuance of this document, by the Transport and Communications Service of the Regional Unit of Lasithi and if four (4) years have elapsed since the issuance of the first registration by Transport and Communications Services of other Regional Units before the transfer of those on which it was not possible to carry out MOT tests shall be carried out in accordance with paragraph 1.
- The MOT test of two-wheelers (motorcycles and mopeds) of categories L4e, L5e and L7e with an engine capacity over 125cc transferred to the Regional Unit of Lasithi by Transport and Communications Services of other Regional Units, in which there was no possibility of carrying out an MOT test, (if four (4) years have elapsed since the issuance of the first registration certificate) the MOT test will be carried out up to one (1) month after the issuance of the registration document.
- For the transfer of the above vehicles with an address indicated on the registration document (field C.1.3 of the form) from areas belonging to the Lassithi Unit, the presentation of a valid MOT certificate is required.
- For the registration of the above vehicles as used from countries abroad, for which a registration document is issued for the first time in our country by the Directorate of Transport and Communications of the Lassithi Regional Unit, the presentation of a valid MOT certificate is required.
- Those vehicles of the above mentioned categories that have already been MOT tested and the MOT certificates are still valid, their owners must go through an MOT test according to the expiration date of the certificate and not according to this program.
- MOT tests for vehicles of the above mentioned categories are mandatory and aim at road safety and environmental protection.
- A vehicle owner who fails to present it for regular or repeat MOT testing within the specified time limit shall be punished in accordance with Article 86 of the Traffic Code and shall be subject to an additional special fee in accordance with the applicable legislation.
