On Friday, July 15, 2022, the two new digital platforms, Digital Vehicle Transfer of Ownership and MyAuto, were presented by the political leadership of the Ministries of Digital Governance and Infrastructure and Transport at the Hellenic Motor Museum.
But what are these new digital platforms, why were they designed and how will they help citizens? Continue reading to find out how you too can benefit from the Digital Vehicle Transfer of Ownership and MyAuto platforms.
Digital Vehicle Transfer of Ownership
The Digital Vehicle Transfer of Ownership aims at modernizing and simplifying the process of vehicle transfer of ownership. According to article 82 of law 4954/2022, the transfer will now be made through the platform drivers-vehicles.services.gov.gr facilitating both the buyer and the seller of the vehicle.
The advantages of the new digital platform are as follows:
- Automatic check of transfer requirements.
- The physical presentation of supporting documents (KTEO card, certificate of payment of road tax, solemn declarations) is no longer required.
- Establishment of a digital certificate, with which the new owner can proceed to the immediate insurance of the vehicle.
- The physical presence of a buyer/seller in the service is no longer necessary and at the same time, time is saved from the docuemntation checks of the employee of the service.
- The details of the vehicle for sale are now easily accessible (VIN number, date of first licence, date of import into the country).
THE PROCESS
- Log into the platform with a two-step identification process, initially with the Taxisnet passoword and then with a one-time password (OTP) sent to the registered mobile phone number.
- Selection of the vehicle for sale and the specific transport service that will carry out the process.
- Enter the buyer’s tax number (ΑΦΜ).
- Then the buyer will receive an sms and email to log into the platform in the same way as in step 1. in order to accept the transaction.
- The buyer will be issued with a digital certificate of application and eligibility for the purchase.
With this certificate, the new owner of the vehicle will be able to insure and drive the vehicle to-be-transfered for 30 days. As soon as the transport authority issues the new registration certificate, the buyer will be notified to receive it, presenting proof of payment of the license and transfer fees of the vehicle.
MyAuto
With MyAuto, vehicle owners will now be able to access an electronic file that will store in real time a set of information about their vehicle. This will now be done without the need of a time-consuming visit to a public service. The data shall be grouped into categories on the basis of the registers from which they are drawn.
The information to be obtained is as follows:
- Car registration information – Registers of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.
- Information on MOT’s (KTEO) – Registers from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.
- Information on the payment of road tax, immobility and property – Registers from the Independent Authority for Public Revenue.
- Vehicle insurance information – Registers from the Information Center of the Auxiliary Fund for Motor Accident Liability Insurance.
Access to the service is done using Taxisnet codes, either from the myauto.gov.gr, or through the gov.gr, in the section “Property and taxation” and the subsection “Vehicles”. Thus, the citizen can see and check for each of his vehicles:
- Car registration information.
- If road tax has been paid.
- If the vehicle is in legal use or not.
- If the vehicle has been stolen.
- The result of the MOT (KTEO) and the date of the next inspection.
- The insurance details of the vehicle.
