Although tradition allows us to decorate the Christmas tree 40 days before Christmas, many and especially in our area are waiting for December 6th, St. Nicholas’ Day, to decorate their home. Let’s not forget that Christmas decorations lift the mood. Who could have imagined, however, that some pleasant activities, such as decorating the christmas tree and the house in general, could be… Dangerous!
What are the risks and what should you pay attention to:
Fire
If the tree is natural make sure it is fresh, if it is artificial make sure it is certified, resistant to fire and heat. Place it away from heat sources and flames (fireplace, candles, etc.). Make sure the lights are also certified and do not leave them on when you are away from home or have gone to bed.
Fall
Small children full of curiosity, naughty pets, or simply because their owners have not placed the crhistmas trees well, are some reasons that can cause a tree to fall. So it is good for the base to be solid and if necessary reinforced with some weight.
Ornament injuries
Glass balls that are especially fragile if dropped, ornaments that have small pieces or are sharp, ornaments that look like sweets or candies, ornaments with light or music that usually have small batteries are dangerous for children and pets. In this case, avoid using them or hang them high so that they cannot reach them. No matter how much one follows the safety measures and pays attention when decorating the Christmas tree and the house for the holidays, accidents do and can happen.
